Applying Wake-REM
Our partnerships around the globe have grown intuitively over the past years. From single home-based cases to Addictions center, Schools and others, the research-REM program is ongoing in places like Cape Town, Belgium, Scotland and Colombia.

Our experienced facilitators and trainors have been conducting different levels of study-experiences: neurodivergent children and adults, patients with cancer or brain damage, people with long lasting sleep disorders and chronic pain, corporations interested in improving the wellbeing of their team members and many others have been taking part on the benefits of REM-sleep experiences.

Recovery Centers
The Hangberg Dreams is an NGO located in Cape Town, South Africa, that provides treatment, support and resources to improve the well-being of individuals, families, schools, workplaces and communities through their programmes.

In 2023, a research-experience process was conducted by Leigh
Goodman and Riki Scruton from our global community. The purpose was to offer people with lived experience of problematic Alcohol and Other Drugs misuse the opportunity to participate in one or more REM sessions as an adjunct to other support services offered by the Hangberg Dreams organisation.

Thirty-three (33) people participated in the research-experience. 18 of the 33 were also invited to experience theplaylist ‘Sleep Playlist’ at home while also following participation in the sessions with the facilitators. A questionnaire was completed, in which they provided a self-rating against 25 measures of Wellbeing, indicating the state of wellbeing prior and after their experiences.

Out of the 825 responses provided across the 25 measures, 556 responses (67.4%) indicated that positive change in self-reported wellbeing was experienced.
The Sleep Playlists
Since 2022, our facilitators have been supporting Sleep Journeys.

The Sleep Playlists, designed to sustain longer experiences, have been sent out to participants from our workshops and trainings who had been dealing with various issues - from cancer patients to sleep deprived ones.

The playlists were used by adults and children who experimented either when sleeping or awake, who reported being calmer, more able to concentrate, quality in their sleep and ability to remember their dreams more.
When I started using the playlists, my HRV was consistently between 10-15 at any time of the day. My breathing rate averaged 22 breaths per minute, and my REM phase was less than an hour. Today (March 17 2024) (I checked briefly), my HRV is 61, my breathing rate is 16, and my REM phase is 2 hours 04. I see these results daily, for several weeks now. It keepsgetting
better and better.

I'm listening to it more or less three times a week. I have strange dreams. Dreams are neither bad nor good. They are strange.I can say that it gives me vitality for the day. Another effect that I am experiencing is a greater connection with (I don't know how to explain it) with something that is beyond the environment and with everything at the same time. A connection with a place different from the one we are used to.
